Conscious Tourism Has Emerged!
At Conscious Tourism we are dedicated to the delights of the Great Southern Region of Western Australia, the delights that sometimes you have to dig a little deeper to find. We offer educational, enjoyable and exciting experiences that are professionally packaged for the increasingly conscious and wellbeing focused visitor market.

Based upon the observations of twenty years practical work experience in regional tourism we have seen the emergence of eco tourism and sustainable tourism that link ‘experience’ with environment and community. The artists, environmentalists, activists and quirky eccentrics that make up the endearing and experiential fabric of the ‘true’ regional experience do not have the means to reveal themselves and be discovered by people seeking meaningful travel or tourist experiences.

Conscious Tourism is a vehicle through which visitors can access these gems and assist their own journey toward:

responsibility for self and the planet,
gratefulness for their abundance, and
respect for the lives and lands of others.

Conscious Tourism encourages and nourishes growth and deeper appreciation of environment, self and others; it respects the continuum between planet, body, mind and soul. At Conscious Tourism we hope to assist or facilitate shifts in individual’s awareness that remain upon return to their everyday life.

Conscious Tourism embraces
the ‘retreat from’ and the ‘return to’ everyday life.

At Conscious Tourism we also aim to facilitate the education of local operators regarding the growing wellbeing tourism market and what is required to meet the needs of this more conscious and experiential visitor . We offer business services that show how to successfully package Great Southern experiences and a high level marketing web based platform through which visitors can pre-book conscious tourism packages or create their own itinerary.

A Conscious Tourism experience is a gift to self and to the community or destination being visited. Conscious Tourism opportunities encourage a:

shift in attitude for the traveler and the tourism operator that remain upon return to one’s normal life;

sharing with the local culture and with gratitude and respect,

gift to the community or environmental groups, organic growers, artists or musicians that have been a part of the experience.

Some say that modern tourism has developed from the institution and traditions of pilgrimage. Some argue that the modern tourist is a secular pilgrim paying respect to the diverse symbols of modernity embodied in tourist ‘attractions’. Others insist that the modern tourist often leaves home to seek novelty and change in different, unfamiliar and often remote and strange environments and cultures. (Ref: Cohen, E. 2004. Contemporary Tourism)

At Conscious Tourism we invite you to join us
in a modern journey that is –
redefining the original ritual of tourism.
